What’s the Deal with V-Steaming?

A big part of being healthy means you not only have to be concerned about taking care of yourself externally but internally too. Taking care of the inside ensures feeling good in those parts only you and your body are in touch with. Yes, this includes your vaginal area too. There are ways which can improve your vaginal health, your monthly menstruation cycle and even your period pains. V-steaming aka vaginal steaming is one of them so we explored.

What is a V-Steam anyway?

Despite lack of scientific research, we do know that generations of women that came before us have practiced vaginal steaming because of its many claimed benefits such as relief from vaginal dryness and other menopause related symptoms. V-steaming, devi steaming, yoni steaming or simply vaginal steaming is the act of exposing your vaginal area to steam emitted by herb infused hot water.

What are the benefits for my Yoni?

Devi steaming treatment care packages have a combination of healing and toning organic herbs which include Rosemary, Basil, Calendula (marigold), Lavender, Yarrow, Rose petals, Motherwort and Mugwort. The Herbal steam supports and regulates the natural feminine cycle, and helps to heal and detoxify the body. The steam helps to dilate your blood vessels which improves blood flow and circulation in your reproductive area. While steaming, your body also absorbs the oils that herbs release when left in hot water.

How Do I V-Steam?

Here is a steaming regime you can add to your at-home self-care routine. Please be careful with hot steam and ensure you aren’t pregnant, on your period and don’t have any open wounds, cuts and infections. 

step 1: Boil herbs with 1.5L water together in a pot and let them boil for about 10 minutes

step 2: Remove the herbs from the water, transfer the water into a container that will serve as your steaming station

step 3: Using a container that can fit into your toilet is the safest way to ensure you can sit and establish safe distance from the hot steam. Sit on the toilet and wrap a blanket or towel from your waist down to contain the steam

#Steaming tip: Wear socks or slippers to keep your feet warm and retain body heat while v-steaming.

step 4: Steam your yoni for 20 – 45 minutes depending on how long the steam remains and use the time to meditate while relaxing.

#Steaming tip: When you are done steaming, lay down while your waist is still wrapped in the towel to ensure better absorption.

Vaginal steaming can be done three to four times a month. Do not do this if you have any infections, open cuts, stitches or chronic reproductive conditions. You may experience a heavier and darker cycle after your first use but you will feel lighter afterwards. If the home version is not ideal for you, there are spas that offer this treatment too.
