The Joys Of Toys

I don’t know about you but I have walked into an adult store before, specifically, a very popular one in South Africa called, Adult World, and I had no idea where to look or what to look at.

At first, it is overwhelming to see so many different options and so many different types of things you can use to pleasure either yourself or your partner. I stopped at one specific aisle and to my surprise, I found a lot of its content intriguing. Something that looks like it should be in the veggie drawer in the fridge, turned out to be the new Speedy XX. A little shy, I picked it up and started reading the back as if I have read these kinds of labels before and it hit me, these things are magnificent!

At some stage in your life, in your relationship or marriage, you become interested in different ways to spice things up and these products will not disappoint you. It does not mean that what you are currently doing is not working, it simply means that you have managed to find new ways to pleasure one another.

I for one never used to believe that sex toys had the ability to make such a difference in the bedroom but once you try it out, it becomes clear that there are certain things the human body can’t do, that toys can. (Psssst, have a look at some of the professionals’ advice on the best toys by going to 13 Best Sex Toys For Couples)

I decided to ask the shop assistant what she would recommend for people who are still a little uneducated and unsure of their desires. The advice she gave me was more insightful than a full episode of SABC News.

See, you have to be curious in order to know more about new things. It is absolutely natural for a person to have no knowledge of next level intimacy when all we had to refer back to when it came to sex was the third page of “Die Son” newspaper. In today’s life, it has become so much easier for a person to explore and become comfortable with the S-word.

It’s not for everyone. Maybe because we weren’t raised to be comfortable with it or conditioned to turn a blind eye but we were also not raised to be comfortable with a phone that can answer your questions.

Times have changed and so has society and what it avails to us. Allow yourself to be curious. Follow the feathers, pick up a pack and lead yourself to a new chapter in your intimate life.

  1. Well, I’ve just loved this blog. Gives you something to think about. Should we really be as shy as we are about our sexuality?

  2. Love how you made use of “the S-word” as it strengthens the statement of society being ashamed of using “toys”.
