The Ford Kuga Just Got a Little Cooler!

We’ve all seen a car that made us go damn!, right? Well, I felt like that when I saw the new Ford Kuga ST-Line.

Usually, when the ST badge is attached to a Ford model you can expect a meaner, faster, louder ST-engine, but with the Kuga, it is only a trim level. So it looks like a fast version of the Kuga, but really it is just hotter version of the Kuga!

There are two engine options:

– 2.0 ST-line EcoBoost (R552 400)

– 2.0 TDCi ST-Line (R570 900)

Both models are all wheel drive and automatic. These engines are also exclusive to the Kuga ST-Line models.

What is it like to drive?

The Kuga ST-Line has a very comfortable and quiet ride. The seats are super comfy, which will make road trips a dream! The turbodiesel engine had more than enough power to run around town and effortlessly pass cars on the highway.

As you can expect, there is enough legroom for passengers in the back. The seats can tilt back for a nice nap and you have a plug point at the back to charge your phones, iPads, laptops etc.

Fuel consumption

Ford claims that the diesel model will get 5.4L/100km, which is a massive difference between the 8.6L/100km that you’ll get from the petrol model. So if you take the difference in fuel consumption into consideration, paying a little extra for the diesel model might be a good idea.

This is what you get with the ST-Line trim level

On the outside, the ST-looks includes a black grille, black 18″ alloy rims, black roof rails, new bumpers (front and back), side skirts and a little spoiler at the back.

On the inside the red trimming on the steering wheel, gear lever and seats provide an ST-vibe. The sporty seats are covered in leather and a suede-like material.

You have the option to add a panoramic sunroof, which I would recommend. because it lets in a lot of light and also makes the car feel bigger inside.

Comfort and features

The Kuga has an 8″ touchscreen with Ford Sync 3, with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The infotainment system, adaptive cruise control and setting can be controlled from the steering wheel.

The Kuga has a semi-automatic parking feature, which will make it easier to get into those tight parking spaces! The car detects a parking space and then instructs the driver to switch to reverse. The car then automatically steers itself into the parking space, while the driver controls the pedals.

My favourite feature is the boot that opens when you swing your foot underneath the rear bumper of the car. Gone are the days of trying to open the boot with hands full of groceries that then end up on the floor!

Safety

The Kuga ST-Line has seven airbag to keep all passengers safe. It has two ISOFIX child seat anchors. All round park assist with audio warning and a rear parking camera is there to make parking a breeze. Furthermore, the Kuga has blind spot warning and lane-keeping assist with land departure warning.

The verdict

If you are looking for a good, practical, safe and sexy SUV – the Kuga ST-Line will do the trick! It looks good and the price is right!

But, if you are still not convinced, go to CMH Ford’s website for more information and book a test drive!
