Lying on the Swartkops River just 38 kilometers northwest of Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage is also known as the Garden Town for its gorgeous position in the foothills of the Winterhoek Mountains, its many rambling parks and a climate that allows gardens to flourish with little input. Add to this already pretty picture the fact that the town’s official flower, the Strelitzia, blooms just about everywhere, and you begin to see why Uitenhage might be a good place to stop.
The town itself was founded in 1804 and has a rich history demonstrated in a number of old buildings maintained in excellent condition, like the Town Hall, the Drostdy and the Court House. Victorian and Settler architecture add to the town’s historical attraction.
VJ’s Guesthouse is equipped with 11 luxury rooms with en-suite bathrooms, and three self-catering suites with full bathrooms. The decor is upmarket and each accommodation unit has its own private entrance, air-conditioning, DSTV, access to the garden and free parking with a fully licensed restaurant on site, open for breakfast and dinner.
They have room service available, tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, daily housekeeping, Alwayson WIFI Hot spot, and dry cleaning/laundry service upon request. It was like a home away from home.
The Guesthouse is a short distance from Port Elizabeth International Airport, Addo Elephant Park, Shamwari Game Reserve, Boardwalk Casino and beachfront.
