Relieve Cramps Naturally

Cramps are actually contractions. Most of us experience them every 28 days and men have no idea how this feels. Some women experience more pain than others. Serious cramps can even cause nausea, back pain, or cold sweats. Cramps don’t always cause pain for everyone but we all experience huge discomfort during these times. We shouldn’t pop painkillers on a regular basis. Here are a few ways to relieve cramps naturally:

Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil is very cooling to the touch. It creates a tingling, refreshing and distracting sensation. Essential oils should never be applied directly to the skin so mix it up with a little carrier oil like jojoba oil. Massage gently and let the coolness settle in.

Chamomile Tea

Sipping one or two cups before that time of the month can have major benefits. It’s anti-inflammatory, relaxing, and calming. This can prevent cramps altogether or at least just relieve the cramps for a while.

Avoid Junk Food

Magnesium Intake

We use magnesium to help regulate our body’s nerve and muscle function. Magnesium has relaxant effects on the body making it a great way to relieve cramps naturally. Make sure to up your magnesium intake for a better night’s sleep and muscle relaxation.

Ginger

Studies have shown that ginger has similar effects to pain medication. They tested it on women and gave them ginger capsules three times per day for four days a week. However, they noticed that taking these capsules is just as effective as taking painkillers during that time of the month.

Avoid Junk Food

Yes, I know, it’s much harder than it sounds. Processed sugar, caffeine, dairy, and spicy foods are a no-go for cramps. Avoid these foods as much as possible to avoid making cramps heavier.
