Le Gaulois: Luxury Island Style Flats in Gordon’s Bay

Island Style Luxury Flats in Gordons Bay – Le Gaulois Luxury Holiday Flats

Le Gaulois Luxury Holiday Flats are situated against the lower slopes of the Gordon’s Bay
mountain range with an elevated position to afford guests truly breathtaking views across False Bay and the Helderberg. All four elegantly furnished and spacious apartments are North-facing and therefore flooded with natural light from dusk ‘til dawn – perfect for balmy Summer days basking in the sun, or cosy warmth during the cooler Winter season.

The History

The outlandish name, “Le Gaulois”, has a special significance for the French owners,
Shanaaz and Alain Houalet. At the time that the Romans were conquering the world,
France was named La Gaule and the inhabitants were known as “Les Gaulois”. On their
travels across the African continent, down along its West Coast and eventually all the way
to Cape Town, it was South Africa that stole their hearts and calmed their nomadic feet.
In 2014 they found their way to the quiet seaside village of Gordon’s Bay.

The couple met in Namibia and were well known and respected for their work in saving, as well as, rehabilitating African big cats in their lodge, ‘Amani’. A change in lifestyle brought them to Gordon’s Bay and finding the house in Miller Street, in the ‘old village’, made them decide to renovate the property in 2016 and transform the house into a unique island-inspired setting, ideal for long or short-term holiday rentals.

The Location

The luxury flats are within a leisurely walk from the famous Bikini Beach, as well as the
Harbour, and a number of restaurants for enjoying seafood and fresh seasonal fair in the
company of friendly locals. Even though Gordon’s Bay is set along the very popular
coastal route to Hermanus, as well as a pleasant driving trip to the Cape Winelands and
within the Helderberg, a bustling business and residential growth centre, the village itself
has retained its charm and small-town atmosphere, enjoyed by holidaymakers all year
‘round.

Guests can enjoy relaxing walks along the beach, visit the harbor, browse around the
bookshops and find useful information on local points of interest at the Gordon’s Bay
Tourism office. Visitors are spoilt for choice for day trips through the Winelands, along
False Bay to Cape Town and Cape Point or along stunning Clarens Drive towards Betty’s
Bay, Kleinmond and Hermanus on the Cape Whale Coast.

The Accommodation

The four apartments, named “Sea Urchin”, “La Tortue”, “L’Orchidee” and “Le Palmier”, each
have its own unique ambiance, tastefully decorated in soothing blues, crisp white and
calming earthy tones. On the ground level, guests have access to a quaint little garden,
communal jacuzzi and BBQ area underneath a shady pine canopy. The luxury flats have
fully equipped kitchenettes and guests can, therefore, opt to have home-cooked meals
and enjoy an outdoor barbecue if they don’t feel like dining out.

The upper-level flats are accessible by private stairwells and the wooden decks are simply perfect for lazing around and feasting the eyes on unobstructed mountain and ocean views. All four apartments have Portable Freestanding Fans and have complimentary Wi-Fi and DSTV connection. Off-road parking is available on site.

Guests experience the luxurious island style accommodation as a relaxing escape from their busy lives, taking time out for a solitary retreat or a festive occasion. Enjoy endless hours of magnificent scenery within a gorgeous tranquil location, all seasons – all year round.
