Do you want to become a model? Jump the leap of faith and make it happen!
Have you dreamt of being a Victoria Secret model or being featured on the cover of Vogue magazine? Do you have what it takes? Do you have “the look”?
The modelling industry is so big and has room for so much uniqueness and talent. There are many agencies and specializations that will at least be interested in you. If you want to become a model, then you should take further steps and make it happen!
Modelling is not just about having a pretty face or an insane body. It is about so much more. You need some personality and attitude!
Let us Talk About the Outer Features
I think it is important for every aspiring model to know what their best features are and how to rock it!
Look at yourself in the mirror and ask, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all”. No, I am just joking! Look at yourself and inspect your makeup-free face. What is interesting about your face? Perhaps your freckles or full lips?
The industry has changed so much and being ‘perfect’ is such a myth. Usually casting agents will remember you by some kind of unique feature such as a gap between your teeth or having big ears.
Build Your Portfolio
After you have analysed yourself in the mirror and identified your “money-making” features, it’s time for a portfolio shoot. Firstly, you will be needing good quality photographs to send out to modelling agencies. Therefore, choosing the right photographer is important. It is advised that you do your homework before choosing someone. The photographer can assist you with advice regarding wardrobe, makeup, and hair.
Next, you will need a clear headshot and a full body shot. Furthermore, always remember, less is more. As a beginner, you can never go wrong with skinny jeans and a plain white tank or shirt. It is important to wear figure-hugging clothing!
Keep it classic and effortless.
Finding an agency
There are multiple agencies to choose from. It is best to send your portfolio photos to all of them since you will have a better chance of being signed.
Show the agencies what you can bring to the table!
