Investment In Your Skincare Routine

We have come to the last three steps of the ideal skincare routine and have come to the conclusion that – a skincare routine is the best investment ever.

Steps 7, 8 and 9 are just as important as the steps that came before and these steps treat and protect your skin in the most amazing ways possible.

Retinoids

Let’s forget diamond’s being a girl’s best friend. Retinoids are! Retinoids are used to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by increasing the production of collagen. Their work does not stop there, they assist with new blood vessel production as well as softening rough patches of skin and helps to fade those dreaded age spots.

Although there are multiple benefits of retinoid use, one needs to be aware that there are also possible side effects. Dryness, irritated skin, sensitivity to light, redness, swelling or blistering are all possible side effects.

One can start introducing retinoids into your daily routine from quite a young age. The recommended age would be your mid 20’s.

Retinoid options:

  1. Demalogica Retinol Boost – R500.00
  2. SKIN Functional 0.5% Retinol – R270.00

Face Oil

A skincare routine is the best investment ever.

The idea of having to use face oil should not make you nervous – even if you are prone to overly oily skin and acne. Face oil is a product that has the ability to help treat your skin and leave it glowing and looking beautiful all at the same time.

Face oil is on-trend in 2021 and here are three of my favourite:

  1. SKOON Skincare Rosehip C+ Concentrate (All skin types) – R259.95
  2. Hyaluronic Acid Triple Fruit Facial Serum (All skin types) – R350.00
  3. REN Rose O¹² Moisture Defence Oil – R1080.00

Sunscreen:

We all know that the South African sun is dangerous and that we need to ensure that we apply some form of SPF everyday in order to protect our skin. Luckily for us, the market is quite saturated with many different wonderful options.

There are five main benefits of sunscreen. It helps to keep your complexion even, protects you from the sun, protects against visible signs of premature ageing, reduces your risk of skin cancer and lastly keeps your skin healthy overall.

Here are a few face oils that I would recommend:

  1. Heliocare 360° Water Gel Sunscreen SPF 50+ – R425.00
  2. Bioderma Cicabo SPF 50+ – R179.95
  3. Eucerin Anti – Age SPF 50+ – R219.00

One of the best investments you will ever make in your life would be to invest in your skin care routine. And although starting out a new routine or adding new products to your routine might seem stressful, however, the benefits that you will experience will wipe all that stress away.

Kelbi is a total bibliophile and will literally read almost anything. The perfect reading scenario for her would be on a comfy couch in front of a fire with an amazing glass of wine. When she is not reading she is studying towards a degree in criminology. Other than that, she thoroughly enjoys spending time with friends and family and probably like any other Capetonian exploring one of our many wine farms.
