Future Tech: Life Hack Edition

We love a good life hack. More so if it’s got a bit of high-tech magic added into the mix. Yes, technology is just magic made by science after all. This is our list of life-enhancing tech showcased at this years CES 2019.

1. L’Oréal My Skin Track pH by La-Roche Posay

Our skin’s health needs to be a priority in our daily schedules, but sometimes it’s just so hard keeping track of things. Enter L’Oréal. They unveiled a new skincare wearable, My Skin Track pH. This smart wearable that you wear like a tiny bandage or sticker is capable of reading your pH level through a combination of micro-channels and trace amounts of sweat. It connects with an app on your smartphone that analyzes and makes an assessment based on your results and provides product recommendations from the La Roche-Posay line.

2. The OVIS

What is cooler than a magic people-dodging owner-following suitcase? The OVIS is one of a kind. Developed by ForwardX, a Beijing-based robotics company, it’s the world’s first artificially intelligent carry-on suitcase. It uses self-driving and vision-powered technologies and is able to recognize and track its owner. How’s that for a life hack?

“Through top-level facial-recognition algorithms, Ovis is able to recognize its owner’s face, and the groundbreaking deep-learning technology also allows Ovis to follow accurately and smoothly.” ~Guangpen Zhang, Head of CV at ForwardX

3. Food Marble

Soon bloatedness and food intolerances will be a simple test you can do at home. With this little nifty Breathalyzer-type-looking Food Marble you can track your gut health through an app on your phone. It works by doing a hydrogen breath test, a technology used by top hospitals worldwide. When food isn’t digested fully, the bacteria in your gut will break it down and release small amounts of hydrogen which is absorbed into your blood before transferring to your breath via your lungs. With that data, the app will suggest what foods to avoid and what substitutes to use.

4. OrCam MyMe

Keep forgetting people’s names, like, straight after you meet them? Yeah, us too. It’s hard keeping up with all of the Joneses. This cool life hack tech is called the OrCam MyMe and it will change everything. Clip this little camera to your shirt and its 13megapixel camera will take a thumbnail shot of whoever you are meeting, which you can then later organize and tag in the companion app that helps you keep track of all your Joneses. Oh, and it automatically scans business cards and name tags to make your life easier. Now you can let your inner networking guru shine!

5. Owlet Band

Expecting moms can now check in on their baby’s health while you sleep and keep track using sensors that track metrics, e.g. the baby’s heartbeat, the number of kicks, contractions, and more, it then uploads it onto a smart app on your phone. The Owlet can be used after the baby is born as a smart swaddling sock that will keep on monitoring your newborns’ health.

With all of this new tech emerging, the future is surely going to be a convenient one that’s run from our smartphones. There will be an app or piece of tech for pretty much everything. What smart technology would you like to see?
