We’ve all had that moment where we either wanted to run for the hills, or down them. Here, 4 of our readers reveal their most embarrassing moments during sex.
1. Fanny Farts:
“My partner and I were getting ready for a steamy night for the first time in quite a while when all of a sudden, my vagina spoke. It sounded like a fart, one that should come from a whole other place but it had no odour and could not be controlled. Is this normal?”
What most people don’t realize is how natural this is. This occurs when air makes its way into the vaginal cavity and is then released when the vaginal muscles relax or when an object is inserted into the vagina. Certain positions such as doggy style tend to let in more air while having sex. This is nothing to be embarrassed about. Laugh it off, queen!
2. Crying after sex:
“After we had sex, I felt a rush of emotions build up and before I knew it, the tears just came running. It’s not something I can explain but I felt like crying for everything. My dog that passed on when I was 9, and even the car accident I saw on the N1 a month ago.”
It has a name now: post-coital dysphoria. This is when, for an inexplicable reason, you feel all mushy after or during sex. It can be caused by a laundry list of hormonal changes during sex and it’s possible that one of them could trigger tears. Also, nothing to be embarrassed about.
3. Urinating during sex (Yep, the golden shower as Millennials call it)
“I never knew this was a real thing but, it is. During an intimate moment I could feel my bladder go “Let it go, let it go” and, it happened.”
As many as 60% of woman have gone through this experience so you are not alone. Sexual stimulation puts pressure on the bladder, thus causing it to release the urine at unwanted times. My suggestion would be to visit the loo before engaging in any sexual activity.
4. The backdoor letting out wind
“For some reason, while I orgasm, I fart uncontrollably. This has been such a turn-off and I am out of loud playlists to distract my partner. HELP!”
This may seem like a very unsexy situation. When we see sex depicted it’s usually either highly glamorized and glossy or clinical, but this is far from the truth. When you find yourself in the midst of an orgasm, the last thing you think about is a fart. These things just happen. Try to steer clear from any gassy foods/drinks in your everyday diet.
No matter your experience, you are not alone. Always remember that your body is alive. What it does during or after sex and how it reacts is very real. If you can’t speak about a certain event without feeling too embarrassed, laugh about it and brush it off.
