Baggy is Back

If you remember back in the day, fashion was all about the slim fitted look. The tighter your jeans were, or the more fitted your outfit was, the more in style you were. This skinny jean and fitted tees trend started in 2008, peaked in 2011, and slowly started wavering down again. We call this the fashion pendulum, the life cycle of any fashion trend over time. In the last year, the pendulum has taken a 360° swing, where baggy is back. We see baggy fashion all over social media as the newest fashion trend, under celebrities and it has become a body-positive movement.
If you want to hop onto this trend, do it the right way by following these tips and tricks.

Balance is Key

Bring balance into your outfit by wearing one slim fitted piece with our jumbo fashion garment. This is, for example, pairing leggings or a crop top with an oversized blazer. By joining two complete contrasts together, it will balance one another out, and you won’t end up looking like you are drowning in your outfit.

Alter with Definition

To add definition to one’s silhouette, pair a belt with your jersey to chinch in the waist which can also add as a design element. Bring focus to our face with added bulky earings or allow the eye to naturally move to your collarbone with when wearing a big jersey by combining it with some dainty jewellery.

Go easy with Colour.

All the focus will be on your jumbo fashion piece, whether it is an oversized coat, big jersey, baggy pants, or boyfriend jeans. You do not want to subtract from the baggy look by bringing to much focus to the colour of it. Try going for neutral shades and the hues of it, like black, grey, whites, beiges, browns, or even navy. Monochrome the whole outfit which will effortlessly create a very elegant high fashion statement.

Oversized Trousers

To avoid looking like a sack of potatoes, balance the top part of our body out with a slimmer fitted blouse. Add a belt to your trousers, and you are free to play with the design. The belt can either be small and minimal for an elegant look or big and chunky to bring focus and fun to an even more edgy vibe. Another way to wear these big trousers is to wear heeled boots or shoes with a lift in. This will separate the big look of the trousers and prevent the pants to look sloppy by flowing into the floor.

Hoodies times Two

When shopping for a hoody buy one that is twice your normal size, to get that Kanye West look, without spending a fortune. You are free to experiment with different patterned hoodies and prints to show off your individual style. Tuck the hem of your hoodie into your fitted jeans for a more laid back look, or wear your hoodie as a dress. Underneath your hoodie, it is advised to wear a neutral coloured dress, for better comfort and security. You can combine it with sneakers or high heeled boots like Ariana grande for a more dressed up girly look.
