I am quite a fan (see what I did there?) of the Spring season. It always feels like an opportunity for new beginnings. A chance to try out refreshing new things, spruce up the home, and even better, take a mini holiday to bond with the family. I thought I’d let you in on how this mama and her troop will be making the most of this season.
1. Spring Clean Your Wardrobe
When you look good you feel great, and that is a definite confidence booster. There’s no better time to experiment with a bit of colour when it comes to your wardrobe than Spring. Have fun with it, from florals to baby and mama combos, ’tis the season to keep looking and feeling your best.
Keep it ultra-trendy with these cute baby and mama sets from UKARA. Our little ones generally like to imitate their mamas so a matchy-matchy with your little one will definitely do the trick. Look out on the online store for more exciting baby and mama sets to come.
While we are on the tip of keeping it fun and fresh, elevate your casual mama look with these stylish Duca del Cosma shoes. With the various activities, you are sure to be busy with, whilst entertaining your little ones, Duca del Cosma guarantees to help you do so in style and comfort.
They have a wide variety, this time I opted for some shimmer and shine in the Duca Pine. They slip on easily with no laces to worry about and have a soft leather upper and lining, as well as an Arneflex insole with memory foam cushioning. Just what every mama needs to keep up with every step, in style. My absolute fav pair at the moment.
2. Spring Has Sprung: Spoil Yourselves with Gourmet Ice-Cream
Thanks to Paul’s Homemade ice cream Joburg now has a super premium ice-cream spot that your entire family will love. Every flavour is made in small batches with fresh milk, full cream, eggs and sugar, high-quality ingredients and a total absence of synthetic additives and chemicals. Paul’s Handmade ice cream is also available through various retail outlets nationwide.
Their flavour of the month Spring Has Sprung is a must-try as a refreshing Spring activity for the family. It’s a rustic carrot cake ice cream, made with freshly baked carrot cake pieces and a spiced caramel, swirled into a cream cheese base. They’re calling it a spring clean for your palate and I agree fully.
3. Head Out on an Adventure
What makes for more refreshing Spring activities for little ones than swinging on treetops and being outdoors? Acrobranch Park offers this and more. With various courses that are family-friendly and safe for children as young as three years, they provide a variety of options from acrobatic bungee-style adventures to obstacle courses, and even combination courses. You are sure to make some thrilling memories.
I love the Acrobranch Park in Melrose, Johannesburg but you can find their outdoor activity parks in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria or the Garden Route.
4. Explore the City Staycation Style
How often do you get to explore your city? Rediscover Johannesburg, Soweto and Cape Town with City Sightseeing’s red hop-on and off bus tours. What I love most about it is its special audio commentary channel for kids. One-day tickets for adults start from R200, kids’ tickets (5-17 years) are R110 and kids under 5 are free.
5. Go On A Refreshing Spring Getaway
Take the family for a relaxed outdoor experience at the Gnu Valley Farm. Gnu offers both an indoor and outdoor playground with a splash pool for the kids. You can opt for a braai and chilled time at the dam while the kids can bring their own bicycles to cycle. Situated in Muldersdrift you can either opt for a day visit or a weekend getaway.
Finally: Stay Freshly Grounded
Nothing beats a beautiful experience as you make life-lasting memories with your little ones. Being able to enjoy the Spring season with all it has to offer is a sure way to keep the family grounded in pure joy and bliss.
